Care and Maintenance of a new Shower Door.

Your new shower door looks great, and you want to keep it looking that way. The most important step you can take is to seal the surface of the glass. The surface of new glass is smooth, but it has microscopic soft spots. The continuous exposure to chemical cleaners will slowly dissolves the soft areas of glass away leaving you with etched glass which is impossible to clean. This is a very slow process, and by the time you realize the problem, it's to late. To avoid etching your glass seal the surface of the glass so that the surface doesn't get the constant exposure to the cleaners. We can seal your eShowerDoor shower door with Crystal Shield II the factory. A shower door sealed with Crystal Shield II doesn't get dirty with water and soap spots like other shower doors. Maintenance is reduced to misting with Repellent Wash and a wipe down using a MicroFiber cloth. This will keep your new shower door looking new forever. A mainenance kit is shipped with doors sealed with Crystal Shield II .

We have run tests on many of the available products, and found none which out performed Crystal Shield II. We ship a small bottle of the Crystal Shield II sealer with our doors so that the all parts of the door including the hardware can be sealed. Crystal Shield II keeps your shower clean and easy to maintain in three ways.

1) It sheds off the water
2) The water droplets shrink as they dry
3) Spots don't stick

The great thing about Crystal Shield II is that sheds off the water so that you have fewer water droplets to make spots, water droplets that do stay on the glass shrink down to small spot as they dry, and any spots that do form are easily wiped off.

Here are two bronze glass samples. The left piece is sealed with Crystal Shield II the right is regular glass. You can see how the Crystal Shield II coating repels the water. The water acts like quick-silver. A slight tilt of the glass, and the water run right off leaving the glass dry. If you tilt the regular glass the water runs off, but the surface is still wet, and as it dries it will leave a water spot. This is the first way the Crystal Shield II keeps your shower door clean.
In this picture the water has dried. As the water dries on the Crystal Shield II sealed glass the size of the foot print shrinks. On untreated glass you end up with a water ring the size of the original droplet. In this example we are using a more of a puddle than a droplet, but the process is the same.
This picture shows both pieces of glass after they have been lightly misted with Repellent Wash and wiped off with a MicroFiber cloth. The Crystal Shield II sealed glass has wiped clean, where the regular glass has a classic water spot. This glass will now need to be cleaned with a harsh cleaner which will dissolve the water salts. Repeated use of these cleaners will hurt the surface of the glass making it evan easer to get new spots.

As needed you just sprits on a little Repellent Wash and wipe off with a mico Fiber cloth. This simple procedure not only cleans the shower, but maintains the Crystal Shield II making the shower easy clean forever. We are putting the Crystal Shield II on the shower enclosure, but it is also effective on tile, granite, marble, fiberglass, and just about any non-porous surface.

General Shower Stall Cleaning:

The best way to maintain your entire shower is to seal it all with Crystal Shield II, and then use the Repellent Wash and wipe everything with a MicroFiber cloth. We are putting the Crystal Shield II on our shower enclosures, but it is also effective on tile, granite, marble, fiberglass, and just about any non-porous surface.

On non sealed showers Avoid the products like Shower Clean which you spray on your shower daily. These products can permanently damage the glass by etching the surface of the glass. Pour a 1/2 cup of DAWN dishwasher cleaner into a spray bottle. Fill the rest of the bottle with vinegar. Spray on the tile and shower, scrub and rinse. This simple combination cleans better than most commercial cleaners.

Safe Products:

These products are safe to use around your hardware and metal surfaces. Our testing showed GlassLuster to be the best of the three products. We recommend using this product to clean a used shower door prior to applying Crystal Shield II.

Dangerous Products:

        • ZAP !
        • Edfred
        • Lime Away

These products attack metal and must be used carefully. Contact to metal surface will cause damage to the finish. We have found that careful use of Zap will quickly clean up the majority of the shower glass. The Zap leaves a thin film on the glass. Use GlassLuster to clean around your hardware and do a final clean of the glass, and then apply Crystal Shield II to avoid future clean-up problems.

Cleaning "W" track:

To clean an old style bypass door with a "W" bottom track, pour some vinegar onto the track. Then scrub the track with a bottle brush. Lay some towels outside the tub and pour some hot water into the track to flush out the vinegar.

Cleaning Euro Hardware
